How Speak Up and Stand Strong Advocacy Work Resulted in the Founding of Superpower Consulting
After over 20 years at a Fortune 100 bank as a highly successful and sought after executive leadership coach and consultant with an extensive background in process design and multi level management, Heather was silenced by termination after spending two years speaking out against the toxic and abusive culture and refusing to terminate minorities erroneously. During these two years Heather suffered debilitating bullying and endured ongoing threats with the goal of silencing her with fear.
At the time Heather was released from the company no reason was given, although she was told that She had been a “top ranked employee with a highly successful career” and was offered $100,000 accompanied by a silence agreement/bribe to stay silent about all that she knew.
By signing the silence agreement Heather would no longer be able to interact with any employees of the bank, specifically the minorities which she had been protecting who were being targeted by upper level leadership.
Heather refused the silence agreement and cash bribe in order to expose the toxic workplace at this company and continue assisting those experiencing abuse and discrimination to exit the toxic and debilitating environment they were experiencing daily.
She created a blog to bring awareness to the toxic and discriminatory culture as well as unethical sales pressure within the workplace, and to provide support to those suffering in silence and feeling alone.
As of 2022, the men responsible for the bullying, unethical sales pressure, and overt discrimination against brown and Black people are still employed at this company, but have been moved to other departments in attempts to hide their past and history. Associates reaching out for help and protection against these men are continuing to be silenced and terminated.
Within six months of creating the blog Heather had received dozens of testimonies from women and minorities from all over the country sharing their stories of abuse at this company. They thanked her for sharing herstory and exposing the truth of the toxic culture within this Fortune 100 bank.
They shared that until they found Heathers blog they had felt alone in their turmoil. Many also shared that the abuse had begun taking a severe negative toll on their health; an all too familiar story.
In time Heather began receiving testimonies from employees at other companies asking for help, guidance, and support to help them through and out of the toxic workplace they were in. CEOs, executives, business owners, and managers also began reaching out asking for support and guidance in improving their workplace morale and production.
It became clear that there is an immediate and urgent need to address and end the toxic workplace environment by hiring better People Focused Leaders instead of Task Managers, and identifying those causing the abuse and holding them accountable.
Heather created Superpower Consulting to support and guide CEOs, executives, business owners, and managers in making better hiring decisions, to identify the unique Superpowers of each individual within their team, territory, and company and to leverage those Superpowers for the benefit of not only the individual but also leadership and the company overall.
In addition, Heather counsels, supports, and guides individuals experiencing abuse and discrimination within the workplace to find their voice and gain courage to take the next step towards protecting themselves and moving forward towards a more joy filled life.
By identifying each individual’s unique Superpowers she has been able to help hundreds of people find and/or confirm their true passions and put together a realistic plan to begin thriving.
Heather has also been able to help countless people protect themselves against bullying, file grievances with national government agencies, gain legal representation, and determine if signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (typically offered at termination to silence employees and keep them from sharing details of the toxic workplace they experienced) is the best decision for what they are looking to accomplish.
“I am incredibly grateful for all that I experienced in my career, including the abuse during the last two years, as it has given me an even greater understanding of how to help individuals empower themselves and follow their true calling and passions as well as help corporations improve the workplace environment as a whole.” - Heather
