“Heather-
I started my career with the Bank back in the day… when we had fun, when we did things for our clients because they were the right thing to do, not because we would be rewarded.
Our co-workers were like family. I definitely saw a decline when Nations Bank bought us. They took away many employee benefits and made our jobs harder with their policies.
They kept our name because (the (name of the bank that was bought by Nations Bank) was a better known brand than Nations. I was fortunate to be able to hit my goals almost all the time but I have to be honest, it could be SO stressful.
Five years into my retirement, I can say that it took me a long time, at least 3 years, to "recover" from the stress. And not to stir the pot too much, but 2 of my worst managers were at the Hillsboro Loan Center. They did their best to make my life a living hell, but I came out on top when I transferred back to the Bay Area for a better job. And working for managers again who appreciated my value.
Then we bought Countrywide and Merrill Lynch at the same time circa 2008-2009, talk about more stress but that's another story.”
