“Hello Heather-
I work for (Fortune 500 bank)in their credit card sales department. One of their policies is not to bring up the best fee-free credit card available unless the client brings it up first. This can only happen if the client has received marketing or advertising of the card through mail, email, or a website pop up. This card has many great features including no fees, and I recently noticed that (the company) is only marketing this card to very affluent and wealthy clients.
I brought this up to my manger, and asked why we are not able to market this card to the people that truly need it rather than just affluent and wealthy clients. To me this is not doing the right thing, as (the company) states as one of their mottos. My manager was unable to answer this question.
Within days, I received a call from human resources wanting to discuss my concerns. I shared my concerns with them, and within days I was on a call with human resources and (the companies) legal department.
To my surprise, instead of addressing my concerns, they offered me a large lump sum to leave the company.
Immediately red flags went up in my mind and I realized that (the company) was trying to silence me and my concerns that they are only supporting their wealthy clients versus those that truly need these premium no-fee products.
I am seeking outside counsel, but wanted to let you know that what you experienced is not isolated to your area. It would appear that people are being silenced all over the company when they escalate concerns of unethical practices, among other concerning practices.
Thank you for the courage and insight your website has brought to me, I am sharing this with others as well.”
